Main Features of St. Tropez Diet

Apart from being a popular tourist destination, St. Tropez is also known for its cuisine – a fusion of Mediterranean and French flavors. On the whole, this diet plan includes the food combinations of this area as well as healthy foods that enable weight loss.

Basics of St. Tropez Diet

Food products like olive oil, fruits, vegetables, fish and whole grains form the foundation of the diet program. Wholesome foods with high proportion of omega 3 fats and omega 6 fats are emphasized. To enhance the fat burning capacity of omega 3 fats, dieters are encouraged to consume foods like red peppers, papaya, mangoes, pumpkins and carrots.

Basically, there are four central principles of the St. Tropez diet plan:

 Higher intake of foods high in omega 3 fats such as salmon, sardines, flaxseed oil and walnuts.
 Balanced intake of high vitamin A foods with omega 3 fats.
 Lesser consumption of foods having high content of omega 6 fats, such as cookies, crackers, baked goods and mayonnaise.
 Include a variety of fruits and vegetables in your diet.

Phases of St. Tropez Diet

Phase 1 – Introducing Good Fats and Fresh Ingredients

This phase involves replacement of saturated fats in the diet with omega 3 fats. It has to be followed for the first week and offers 1600 calories.

Phase 2 – Balancing Diet and Lifestyle

Followed during the second week, this phase includes reduced calorie intake to 1450 calories per day. A structured exercise regime is also encouraged for dieters at this time.

Phase 3 – Reaching Your Ideal Weight

During the three weeks of this phase, calories are further reduced to 1300 per day while increasing exercise.

Phase 4 – Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

The last phase, this involves two weeks of increased calorie intake to about 1500 calories per day. Additionally, dieters learn how to combine fats with foods high in vitamin A resulting in more fat burning for long term weight loss.
